Open Scholarship
As the Biochemical Society’s publisher, we’re embedding equitable, inclusive, and sustainable open practices that support the bioscience community and provide all authors with compliant open access routes to publication. Our open science initiatives are helping to drive the impact and reach of our authors’ work, supporting our core mission to share and promote knowledge from across the molecular biosciences.

Learn about Read & Publish
The Biochemical Society and Portland Press are transitioning towards open access (OA). To support and accelerate this transition to OA, we are offering pilot deals to several hundred institutional subscribers through Read & Publish alternatives to regular subscriptions (i.e., transformative renewals) facing individual institutions and via ‘transformative’ agreements signed with consortia.

Open data
Open data forms one of the key tenets of our ongoing transition to open scholarship. We support the principles that research data should be findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR). We’re committed to working collaboratively across the molecular bioscience community, making data available in a way that best supports the understanding and advancement of future research.
