Face-to-face conferences are a very important way for scientists to meet in person, share knowledge and to foster new ideas. Despite the rapid development of technologies which allow us to organize conferences online, numerous face-to-face conferences are still being organized around the globe each year. However, there is a growing interest in the possibilities of integrating science communication and networking with Web 2.0 technologies, and this is likely to influence the way in which science conferences will be organized in the future.
