European Network for Oxysterol Research (ENOR)
12–13 September 2024 Nexus, University of Leeds, UK
This Biochemical sponsored event, the 13th annual meeting of the European Network for Oxysterols Research (ENOR), was held at the University of Leeds.
This year’s theme, “Oxysterols and phytosterols in age-related disease and immune regulation,” highlighted the growing recognition of oxysterols’ roles in human health. These compounds are linked to neurological disorders, cancer, and immune system function, while phytosterols are associated with healthy aging. The programme included plenary talks, oral presentations, and poster sessions showcasing cutting-edge research on oxysterols and phytosterols, their molecular mechanisms, and advanced detection techniques.
With about 50 participants, the meeting offered an ideal networking opportunity for our delegates. Scientific sessions initiated rich discussions and early career members felt comfortable to present in a supportive environment. The audience was extremely diverse with people from Czechia, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the UK, and the USA.
The Biochemical Society sponsored a poster prize and a best presentation prize. The winners were chosen by delegates and awarded at the end of the meeting. Updates of the meeting were also communicated on social media using #ENOR24 and @ENOR_Oxysterol.
Overall, this has been a very successful scientific meeting.
