Sponsored event report: XVth British Meiosis Meeting – A Celebration of ECR-Led Discovery
26–27 March 2025, Liverpool Medical Institute
With generous sponsorship from the Biochemical Society, we were delighted to host the XVth British Meiosis Meeting in Liverpool on 26–27 March 2025.
This year’s meeting brought together the vibrant UK and EU meiosis community with a particular focus on early career researchers (ECRs). Over 2 days, we enjoyed 16 fantastic talks from ECRs covering the full spectrum of meiosis research – from plants and yeast to worms and humans.
Invited talks included:
A compelling clinical perspective on germ cell tumours.
An inspiring New PI talk by Dr Christophe Lambing.
A cutting-edge keynote lecture by EMBO YIP Dr Joao Matos (Vienna), who shared new insights into the architecture of meiotic cells enabled by advanced imaging technologies.
In addition to the talks, we hosted 27 high-quality posters from ECRs, showcasing the beauty and diversity of meiosis research.
The quality of ECR contributions was outstanding, making prize selection a true challenge. We were proud to recognize three short talk and four poster prize winners.
We are incredibly grateful to all participants, speakers, and supporters who made this meeting such a success. The future of meiosis research is clearly in excellent hands!
Next years’ meeting will be organized by Christophe Lambing (Rothamsted).
