Encapsulated ferritins (EncFtn) are a sub-family of ferritin-like proteins, widely distributed in all bacterial and archaeal phyla. He and colleagues (975–989) highlight the common structural organization and activity of EncFtn proteins, despite the diverse host environments they are found in. The cover image shows the annular decameric architecture of the EncFtn from P. furiosus. Image courtesy of Jon Marles-Wright.
