The cover of this issue of the Biochemical Journal features a 3-D rendered image of dividing cancer cells. In this issue, Li et al. investigate the links between PRL2, miR-21 and PTEN. Their research provides evidence that PRL2 serves as a negative regulator of PTEN. Reductions in PTEN significantly impact cancer development and progression, and therefore the therapeutic targeting of PRL2 is a promising strategy for cancer treatment.
