The Biochemical Journal is a hybrid journal, offering the option to publish open access (OA), and is published by Portland Press on behalf of the Biochemical Society. The Biochemical Society was founded in 1911 and, given its breadth of coverage within the life sciences, continues to attract a strong membership community; Portland Press is the publishing arm of the Biochemical Society, with all profits being returned to the Society for them to carry out their charitable endeavours.
Publishing with us is completely free under a standard license, and the Biochemical Journal does not charge page fees, publication charges or colour fees. If you choose to make your article available under an open access license, there is an article publishing charge, and more information can be found on the journal’s website. MOLECULAR MECHANISMS IN BIOLOGY

All papers undergo a rigorous peer review process; however, the Editorial Board is committed to ensuring that, if revisions are recommended, extra experiments not necessary to the paper will not be asked for.
