In the latest issue of Clinical Science (volume 133, issue 3), Refaeli et al. discuss the possible link between mutations in the PODXL and adult-onset focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, and propose their own hypothesis; the onset of FSGS, and perhaps other podocytopathies, may be affected by alterations in podocalyxin protein expression.
