The loss of mitochondria in the hippocampal neuron of db/db mice is a hub for the development of diabetes-associated cognitive impairment (DACI). In this issue of Clinical Science (volume 134, issue 16), Ma et al. discuss how the transplantation of exogenous Mito-Plt has a potential application for the treatment of DACI.
