The cover of this issue of Clinical Science features Masson's trichrome and hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining of PF lung. Histological staining of sections of lung tissue from PF patients (labelled 1 to 14) used in the study to generate primary cultures of AECs. Tissue was stained for collagen (blue) using Masson's trichrome, and nuclei (blue) and cytoplasm/extracellular matrix (pink) using H&E stain. Low power images show the gross distortions in lung tissue architecture, including interstitial thickening that typify PF. Yellow and black scale bars are 80 and 200 micron respectively.
