Neuronal Signaling is a fully open access journal, and every article carries a Gold open access article publishing charge (APC). All articles are published under a Creative Commons CC BY licence.

Neuronal Signaling adheres to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of open access: that users have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of open access articles published in the Journal. 

Authors will retain copyright and assign Portland Press an exclusive Licence to Publish. For open access articles published in Neuronal Signaling, the Licence to Publish assigned to the publisher by authors will reference the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 licence, to guide use and re-use terms for authors and readers.


Article publishing charges:

  • £1250 (£875 discounted rate for Biochemical Society members and for authors who are from an institution that subscribes to a journal in the Portland Press portfolio)
  • $2225 ($1555 discounted rate for Biochemical Society members and for authors who are from an institution that subscribes to a journal in the Portland Press portfolio)

Waivers for article publishing charges are available for authors from some countries, see here.

Neuronal Signaling does not charge submission or page charges.
